This summer, members of the Wags ‘n Whiskers team are thrilled to attend the 36th Annual Do Dah Day and the 6th Annual Bark & Wine events!

Do Dah Day, a free music festival and parade, is the oldest annual event in Birmingham and is designed to bring awareness and raise funds to support homeless animals in the Birmingham and Jefferson County areas. Since its beginning, Do Dah Day has raised nearly $1.5 million for local animal charities and shelters.

The 36th Annual Do Dah Day is this Saturday, May 16, at Caldwell and Rhodes Parks in Southside Birmingham and Do Dah Eve will be this Friday, May 15 at Black Market Bar and Grill in Five Points South.

The parade will officially begin at 11:01 a.m. on Saturday and will start on Highland Avenue and continue through Caldwell Park. Prizes will be awarded based on the following categories:

  • Best Float
  • Best Team
  • Largest Pet
  • Best Movie-Themed Pet or Pet/Human Group
  • Best Dressed Pet
  • Best Pet/Owner Look-Alike

If you’re not able to attend Do Dah Day, make sure to mark you calendars for June 13 for the 6th Annual Bark and Wine event benefitting the Shelby County Humane Society. This event will include dinner and both a silent and live auction. The proceeds will help the Shelby County Humane Society care for homeless, abused, neglected and abandoned animals. The event starts at 6 p.m. and the live auction begins at 7:30 p.m.

As always, we are looking forward to seeing many of our friends in the animal community and can’t wait to meet many more! Stay up to date on where we will be in the community by visiting our community page.

For more information on these events, visit the Do Dah Day website or the Shelby County Humane Society website. We hope to see you there!
