MEET REBECCA MASON: TRAINER TO THE BEST DOGS IN TOWN…YOURS!

Merritt Milam | December 3, 2018

They say, when you do what you love for a living, it’s not work. It’s also been said, if your work is teaching and training dogs, it’s better than winning the lottery. Ok, I’m not sure that last part is completely accurate, but if you know our trainer Rebecca, you know she loves teaching people and training dogs…a lot!

Rebecca is a teacher first and a dog trainer second. She believes that in order to have a well-behaved dog, it is the owner who must be taught first. Rebecca thrives on interaction with both people and pets and brings passion and determination to her work. She believes that every dog has potential, no matter the age or breed and that if it can be done, it can be done using positive methods. Rebecca has been training dogs professionally for over 10 years and credits her passion and training skills with the expert trainer, Elizabeth Morgan of Alabama Dog Academy in Huntsville. Rebecca does not subscribe to the use of force or intimidation. Training is about a bond of trust and love between dog and handler.

As Owner and Head Trainer of her company, Love Them Train Them, Rebecca and her team offer unparalleled, comprehensive support to their students, including digital homework with step-by-step instructions, training videos, and helpful tips and reminders. Besides the training that her clients receive during their sessions, Rebecca also provides unlimited email support to ensure that every person gets more than their money’s worth.

Rebecca is also an AKC Evaluator, offering Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog title testing. Rebecca is committed to continuing education, and her passion is working with families to help them channel their dogs’ energy positively. Meanwhile, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband John, son Micah, and their three dogs Percy, Ringo, and Jacques. She is active in Nose Work classes with Jacques, who recently received four AKC Scent Work titles along with his NACSW Level 1 Interiors title. Rebecca teaches group obedience classes at Wags ‘N Whiskers in Homewood, and other locations around Birmingham, where she is able to implement her own curriculum. Rebecca and her team are committed to their clients, both canine and human.

This coming year Rebecca has a full slate of wonderful classes you’ll want to check out, including Therapy Prep II. This 5-week course is an outings class where each week teams will visit a different location to practice their obedience skills and learn to problem-solve their way through everyday situations and challenges. It’s lots of fun and teaches you and your dog valuable life lessons. (Impulse Control or Therapy Prep I are prerequisites.)

If you are interested in any of our training classes, check out the latest schedule on our website or call 205.902.WAGS (9247). We would love to help you achieve your goals for your best friend!
